Sometimes when it comes to being filled with the Holy Spirit, some Believers get confused and ask themselves: “Did I really receive the Holy Spirit?” The answer according to the Bible is a resounding “Yes!”

“Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:38)

That means the moment you asked Jesus in your heart, you received the Holy Spirit of God Himself inside of you. It is impossible for someone to become a Believer without the Holy Spirit.

“Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.” (1 Corinthians 12:3)

When the Holy Spirit comes, The Holy Spirit comes in power. The Holy Spirit is a power to receive. How can we access more of the power of the Holy Spirit? One of the ways is through Baptism. When the multitude at Pentecost first heard Peter’s powerful Gospel message about new life in Jesus, they asked, “What should we do?”

“Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” (Acts 2:37)

Peter did not miss a beat. He replied directly. Have you been baptized? If not, why are you waiting? Baptism is the next step in our spiritual journey to being powered by the Holy Spirit. When Jesus was baptized heaven opened and the Holy Spirit descended like a dove and never left Him. From then on, Jesus walked and ministered in the power of the Holy Spirit with victory over the enemy, sin, and even death.

“When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.” (Matthew 3:16)

Baptism is a way of identifying with the Holy Spirit filled life of Jesus. If you feel empty the Holy Spirit wants to fill you. When you go under the waters of baptism, you identify with Jesus’ death and burial. When you come up out of the water, you identify with His resurrection to new life. Life by the Holy Spirit.

We look forward to seeing you in the waters of baptism as we leave our sins behind and receive a fresh filling of the Holy Spirit.

Heavenly Father, thank You for saving my life when I first confessed Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I admit I often live in my own strength and will power, when the Holy Spirit’s power is available to me. Forgive me. Please have Your Holy Spirit fill me afresh today. Grant me courage to be baptized and publicly say my trust is in You. You gave Your life for me. Now I give You mine in return. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
