DOING THE WORK OF THE LORD
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
Are you looking for a way to captivate your family and friend’s interest when you spend time with them to discuss the Bible? Do you look forward to the day when the people in your life will eagerly open their Bibles and spend time with God because they recognize the fact that God is the number one priority in their lives?
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 15:58)
Do you pray that your children will become so captivated with the Bible that they will embrace Biblical superheroes like Abraham, Joseph, and Daniel as their spiritual heroes and turn to Paul, Peter, and Timothy as role models for their faith?
If so, make the Bible come alive for them and bring it into their everyday lives!
“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)
We need to make the stories and heroes from the Bible come to life so that we can effectively communicate the spiritual truths of the Bible to people who might otherwise not hear them.
We already have basic skills in reading and understanding the Bible, whether we realize it or not. As we read to our family and share God’s love with our friends and family every day, we become experienced at communicating foundational Bible insights and essential spiritual truths in a way that captivates listeners with limited attention spans.
“pray without ceasing,” (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
Now, let us cultivate these skills and use them with intentionality. We need to look for opportunities to weave them into our daily conversations whenever an appropriate opening presents itself.
Just turn on the news, there are opportunities everywhere right now to give people a place where they can feel safe and secure about their future.
No matter where God places us, whether we spend our days busy with errands, tending to our family or friends, working with frazzled co-workers, or just waiting in the line at the grocery store. We are surrounded by people every day who want to hear a story that will transform their lives.
Instead of acting like the world and talking about what is happening around us and the latest news report, political poll, or gossip, we can bless others by ministering to their spiritual needs instead.
“Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.” (Ephesians 4:29)
We need to take this to heart by sharing the life-changing stories of the Bible and presenting the spiritual truths contained within them in compelling and relatable ways!
Do your best today and present yourself to God as a worker who shares the Word of God and whose labor is not in vain!
What is your favorite Bible story, and what life lesson have you learned from it?
Heavenly Father, You have done such a work in my life as Jesus is my Lord and Savior. Your Word says to be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that my labor is not in vain in the Lord. You have also instructed me to let no corrupt word proceed out of my mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. I desire to be an influence to those around me, showing the Love of You, God and living the life that You have made available for those who are Your children. Thank You for using me to influence others for the Kingdom of You. In Jesus name, Amen.
