NO MORE WAITING
“Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, According to Your word; For my eyes have seen Your salvation
Simeon was a devout man who went to the temple every day in the hope of seeing the promised Messiah who would deliver God's people from their sins. Long before, the Holy Spirit promised Simeon that before he died, he would see the Son of God, and today's Bible verses are about that day.
"Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, According to Your word; For my eyes have seen Your salvation: (Luke 2:29-30)
There was Simeon, walking among the crowd, and the Holy Spirit must have led him there at that very moment because he sees Jesus. As he gently takes the baby Jesus in his arms, he said, "Lord, now You are letting Your servant depart in peace, According to Your word; For my eyes have seen Your salvation."
Simeon had waited his entire life for that day to arrive. Was he disappointed? Not at all. He sang praises to God for keeping His promise to him.
“and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.” (Romans 4:21)
Right now, you may still be waiting for your miracle, a healing, new job, restored relationship, or a baby of your very own. You do not have to live in disappointment. Simeon shows us all how to hold on to hope until God fulfills His promises.
All you have to do is believe that God is faithful. Then wait for God's perfect timing. It may be slow, but it is certain. Finally, take a step of faith. Simeon did not sit and do nothing while he waited. Simeon got up each day and went to the temple seeking the Son of God. As we seek God and His will each day, the Holy Spirit will direct our paths.
Maybe you are wanting and waiting, just like Simeon, to see the reality of Jesus for yourself. Maybe you do not know Jesus. Just as the Holy Spirit led Simeon to Jesus, He can lead you to Jesus too. The world offers empty promises that leave you empty and disappointed, but Jesus never will leave you empty and broken-hearted. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever just as He was the day Simeon received his promise to see the Messiah with his own eyes. God's promises are true.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
The wait is over. Whatever you are currently facing in your life today, you can experience the miracle of Jesus. Like Simeon, reach out and receive Jesus into your heart. All you have to do is pray this prayer right now:
"Heavenly Father, I confess I want and need You. I have sinned. My life is not what I want it to be, and I am sure it is not what You want it to be either. I willingly believe You sent Jesus to come to earth and died on the cross, then rose from the grave to purchase me a place in heaven with You. Jesus, come into my life and take control. Forgive all my sins and save me. Let me see the reality of You in my life. I am turning from my sins and placing my trust in You for my salvation. Please share with me Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus' Name, Amen."
It is as simple as that. You can experience all that Jesus can do in your life. We are standing by to pray with you.
We serve a God who not only makes promises but also keeps His promises. We come before God with the desire to start a new life each day. We make our commitment to God, accept God's plan for our lives, and we believe His promises. We walk forward in faith that God keeps His promises.
Have you made Jesus the Lord of your life?
Heavenly Father, For You, Father God so loved the world that You gave Your only begotten Son, that whoever believes in You should not perish but have everlasting life. I believe in You and Your Love for me, and that You gave Your only begotten Son. I make my commitment to You, and accept Your plan for my life, and I believe Your promises. I walk forward in faith that You keep Your promises. I will read and study Your Word each day as Jesus is now Lord of my life. I will hold on to Your promises as Your promises are true. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
