ENCOURAGE, MOTIVATE, AND MEET
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
The Bible says a lot about our need to belong. God created us for relationships, and having fellowship meets our need to belong. As Believers, we are the body of Christ, and each one of you has a part in it.
“not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:25)
Today’s Bible verse challenges us to gather together with other Believers. This is not just a nice idea. There are very good reasons to do so. We are built up in our faith by being with others who believe the same.
“For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.” (Romans 12:4-5)
As Believers, God meets our needs to belong through the fellowship and the encouragement of other Believers, and today’s Bible verse challenges us to not stop meeting together and going to church.
Not going to church can be really easy to do. Everything else seems more important than going to church. Instead of going to church, you had to work late the night before, or you just wanted to enjoy your weekend. Maybe your friends are doing something fun, and you would rather be doing that than going to church. Whatever the case is, it is easy to stop going to church. But today’s Bible verse challenges us not to do that.
“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.” (Acts 2:42)
Going to church keeps us encouraged in our faith. We can hear preaching that will inspire and challenge us. We can meet and talk to other Believers who will encourage us in our walk with God.
“For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:20)
When we take time to meet together with other Believers, we get inspired and challenged to live lives for God. Do not give in to the things that would pull you away from going to church. Decide to make meeting with other Believers a priority in your life!
Heavenly Father, I am so very thankful I am a part of the body of Christ. I may be in the world, but I am not of the world. Therefore, meeting and communicating with likeminded Believers is sharing Your Word to encourage others. By studying Your Word and seeking You first, I have the mind of You, being able to help others in their time of need. We are all one in You as the body of Christ, and as we see the times around us, we know we must encourage others in and for Your Kingdom. Heavenly Father, use me today to encourage someone in need. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
