GET BUSY FOR GOD
I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love.
We are all God’s children, and God has called each of us to serve Him. We have all been called to do something for God. He has placed dreams and desires in our hearts, and God wants to help us accomplish them.
“I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love.” (Ephesians 4:1-2)
Have you ever noticed how easy it is to get sidetracked when it comes to God’s calling on our lives? We get busy or sucked into Netflix or Facebook, and the next thing we know, we have forgotten about all the things that God has called on us to do.
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28)
If we each live our lives just for ourselves and we wait for our dreams to fulfill themselves, we will always be disappointed. We have to be more intentional when it comes to our dreams. If we each live our lives just for ourselves and look to others for fulfillment, we will always be disappointed. Living a fulfilled life only comes when we put our focus on God’s calling in our lives.
God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. (1 Corinthians 1:9)
One way to understand God’s calling is to decide we are going to grow in Jesus. We need to decide that nothing is going to keep us out of God’s Word and off of our knees in prayer. We need to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal Himself to us and show each of us the gifts God has given each of us and the ways God wants us to use them.
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. (Mark 16:15)
The only thing that can bring you the peace and fulfillment you need is Jesus. He has called you to share the Gospel with the world, and by doing that, we can live a life that is worthy of that calling. Make a point this week to make a choice not to be distracted by other things and choose instead to focus on Jesus. Trust Him to help you find the path that is right for you. We have been called to do great things.
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:1–2)
We all need to get busy for God, and we will not have to find our calling. God’s calling will find us because the Holy Spirit knows where we live. When we discover God's calling on our lives, we will feel more alive than we ever have felt before. God’s grace will set us free to become all that we were created to be.
How can you get busy for God today?
Heavenly Father, You are faithful, by whom I was called into the fellowship of Your Son, Jesus Christ, my Lord. I now present my body a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to You, God, which is my reasonable service. And I will not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of my mind, that I may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of You. Father, I ask You, no matter what is going on in my life or in life around me, to use me to the praise of Your glory. I want others to see You in my life, not this world and all its cares and concerns. The joy of the Lord is my strength, and that is what I take for me this day. All praise be to You, my Father. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
