AUDIO VERSION

Jesus met a blind man and healed him with a combination of dirt, spit, and the Holy Spirit. When the blind man’s neighbors learned about his healing, the religious leaders went to Jesus, looking for answers.

“Then he said, “Lord, I believe!” And he worshiped Him.” (John 9:38)

When you have no vision, your view of the world comes from images that someone else places in your mind.

John describes a man who was blind since he was born. Jesus’ disciples assumed the blindness had been caused by sin, maybe his or even his parents. Jesus assured them that the man’s troubles had not been caused by sin, but so the works of God might be displayed in him.

“Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.” (John 9:3)

If you were blind, would you not be willing to try just about anything to be healed? Can you see yourself thinking, “Cover my eyes with whatever you want if I can see again” Because that is precisely what Jesus did. After Jesus covered the man’s eyes with mud, Jesus told him to wash his face. In that instant, his dark lonely world became light.

“As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” (John 9:5)

The religious leaders of the day overlooked the healing miracle of the man's blindness because they wanted to make sure it happened according to their regulations. They were more interested in who healed him. Did not Jesus know He was not supposed to heal people on the Sabbath? The religious leaders' interrogation ended abruptly with the former blind man saying, “I was blind, but now I see!”

“He answered and said, “Whether He is a sinner or not I do not know. One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see.” (John 9:25)

Anyone who accepts Jesus as Lord and Savior has a before and after story. If you have gone from the darkness to the light, your story has been written so the works of God will be displayed in you. Your story is just as much of a miracle as the one in today’s devotion. You were blind, and now you see.

When was the last time you shared your story with someone?

Heavenly Father, because of Jesus in my life, I have a story to tell. I want others to know the life changing power of Your Holy Spirit in my life and how my life has changed. I have the light of life, and I will walk in the light as You are in the light, and I have fellowship with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
