WATCH AND PRAY
But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is.
When we focus on the wrong things, we miss what God is doing in our lives. When our attention is only on the here and now, we miss God's long-term plan. When we think about comfort, we miss out on character. When we want to enjoy the moment, we may not prepare for eternity.
"But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is." (Mark 13:32-33)
When our thinking is short-term, we miss seeing the spiritual work God is doing all around us.
We do not know the exact day and hour of Jesus' return. What should our response be to one of life's most important questions? Fear? Doubt? Frustration? Disappointment?
No! We know the heart of God because we have seen His heart revealed to us by Jesus. We know God desires us to be saved and come to Him through Jesus. We know that God spared nothing, not even His Son, to redeem us and adopt us into His family.
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” (Romans 8:31-32)
Knowing what you know about God, you can be sure that God's promises can always be trusted and that our future is secure. Your task is to live for God and be ready for His Son's return.
Whenever we are thinking short-term, we can not see the larger picture of what God is doing in our lives. Ask God today to give you a glimpse into eternity and to help you experience the hope that comes from seeing His long-term plan.

Heavenly Father, but of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only You, Father God. I will take heed, watch and pray; for I do not know when the time is. I must be ready as we know it won’t be long. In Jesus name, Amen.
