KNOWING GOD’S VOICE
“Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God:
Consistent prayer life brings us closer to God. It develops an intimate relationship with God and allows us to hear His voice when others might not.
“Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God: (Deuteronomy 28:1-2 )
We recognize God’s voice because we have spent time in His presence. His voice has calmed our fears in the middle of the night. God’s warning voice has kept our feet from going over the edge of the cliff.
People often say that they want to know God, but they fail to communicate with Him. They often only communicate with God when they want to ask Him something and give up quickly. God longs for us to have a consistent prayer life. More than the occasional try, God desires an ongoing and sustained effort.
“I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me.” (Proverbs 8:17)
Our relationship with God needs to be more than calling on Him when we need an answer to something. We need to have quiet conversations with HIm, asking Him the hard questions, sharing our joys, and showing Him our tears during the times when we need His strength.
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:11-13)
God knows the amount of hair you have on your head, and God recognizes your voice. He wants a consistent relationship with you today.
As you go about your week this week, remember that consistent prayer keeps us in God’s presence. As we listen to God’s voice and grow closer to Him, it will draw others closer to God. Only you can make a difference in that person’s life that God places in your path today.
What steps can you take to build a closer relationship with God today?
Heavenly Father, Your thoughts toward me are thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give me a future and a hope. I will call upon You and You will listen. I will seek You and find You, when I search for You with all my heart. Thank You, Father. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
