BE STRONG AND OF GOOD COURAGE
And David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God—my God—will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.
The Bible makes it clear that God knows every detail about each of us. Because of this knowledge, God can pinpoint the assignments He gives us and provides everything we need as individuals.
"And David said to his son Solomon, "Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God—my God—will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord." (1 Chronicles 28:20)
David gave Solomon good advice for building the temple. Encouraging Solomon to be strong and courageous, David added these three words. "Do the work". After all, he was Israel's new leader.
Sometimes we try to find solutions because we are busy, but it adds more to the to-do list than what is already there. Instead, we need to stop trying to give our schedule an overhaul and tackle the tasks one at a time.
That is why God keeps it simple, as He does here in today's Bible verse. After his instructions, David shared the best news of all. God will never fail us or forget about us. God will even see to it that all the work is finished correctly.
When we all do our small part, God will make sure the work is finished correctly. Maybe it is the daily tasks of life that are overwhelming us. Or perhaps it is bigger or more challenging. Maybe we have been dreading it, or maybe even putting it off because we do not know where or how to start.
Grab hold of God's Word today. The next time an overwhelming task taunts us, remember today's Bible verse. Let it guide us as we are tempted to distract ourselves by rearranging our schedule or creating a new to-do list.
Instead, spend an hour just doing the work that will free us from the things that overload us.
These are important characteristics for each of us. To serve God, we need mental strength, physical strength, emotional strength, and spiritual strength. We are in a spiritual war and can be defeated if we allow the enemy to influence our minds and hearts. We have to be prepared and equipped with God's strength. Confident and bold.
Are you up to the challenge? Make sure that you depend on God, that you draw on His strength. Because of God, you can be strong and courageous.
Heavenly Father, because of You, I can be strong and courageous. I will draw on Your strength and depend on You. I will be strong and of good courage, and do it; I will not fear nor be dismayed, for You, my God will be with me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
