ALL THINGS LEAD TO JESUS
God sent John to announce Jesus’ arrival, and the book of John is John’s personal account of Jesus’ life and ministry. At the start of the book, we would expect to see a star, a manger, shepherds attending sheep, angels singing, wise men, etc. But in the introduction to the book of John, John does not tell of Jesus’ story but ours.
“All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.” (John 1:3)
Jesus was with God when He created the world. Jesus left heaven and entered the earth the way we did, through being born. Jesus was human; Jesus was an ordinary man sent to earth for all humanity.
Jesus is the initiator of everything. The universe, our lives, our salvation, all were created and conceived by Jesus. As if that was not enough, John says Jesus entered into His creation, becoming a living, breathing human, and walking among us.
Do not miss this: Jesus became flesh and moved into the neighborhood He created. He played down the street with someone’s kids. Jesus went to school and got hungry. Jesus bled when He fell and cried for His mother. Jesus grew up and got a job. Jesus had real-life human experiences.
Why would Jesus become human? John answers this question for us by showing us who God is.
All along, Jesus risks us misunderstanding Him so that He might start a relationship with us. Jesus does not begin a relationship with us because we are worth it. Jesus creates a relationship with us to give us a life worth living.
How should you live in response? What next step has God asked you to take?
Heavenly Father, I know You sent Jesus to this earth, so mankind who believes and accepts Jesus as Lord could have a relationship. I know You are providing me a life worth living. You are my Lord and Savior, and my complete trust for life is in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
