POWER OF SINGING TO GOD
But I will sing of Your power; Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning; For You have been my defense And refuge in the day of my trouble.
We have so much we can give praises to God; there is great power in giving honor to Him. Many of us live this truth, every single day of our lives. The Bible is packed with examples of praise when we see God's power released through life-changing miracles, dramatic stories of the enemy being stopped and defeated, hearts changing, and brought closer to God.
"But I will sing of Your power; Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning; For You have been my defense And refuge in the day of my trouble." (Psalms 59:16)
The reality is that daily struggles or life's demands can crowd out our praise to God. We might check the worship box at church and somehow think we are good for the week. All the while, our souls are distant and cold, we sing the words, we listen to music, then we go home.
Sometimes it is hard to offer praise. We may not feel like it. We are struggling. We are tired, and nothing is going our way, and we flat out do not feel like giving praise. Sometimes, we feel like God let us down. We think God is distant, like He is far away, or does not care about what is bothering us. The challenges of life and losses might have recently sent us spiraling and looking for answers.
“You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.” Selah (Psalm 32:7)
Here is what can make a big difference. When we decide to fix our eyes on God, and daily give God praise, no matter what is right in front of us, we suddenly realize that God has already begun to release the grip those struggles can have over us.
There is power in our acknowledgment that God is worthy, above all else, of our worship and praise.
The Holy Spirit urges us onward to press in close to Him. It does not matter how good or "not good" we feel like we can sing. It does not matter if we are alone, with a few people, or at church. It even does not matter whether we "feel" like it or not. What matters is this: Our hearts are in tune with God.
“But I will sing of Your power; Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning; For You have been my defense And refuge in the day of my trouble.” (Psalm 59:16)
God desires our whole heart. God waits for us to return, and He longs for us to know the power of His presence over our lives. God wants to bless us more than we could even imagine. The Holy Spirit urges us onward, calling us closer to God.
Will you answer His call?
Heavenly Father, You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. But I will sing of Your power; Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning; For You have been my defense And refuge in the day of my trouble. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
