MAKE IT OUR AIM
Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him.
Too often, we find ourselves going through life with a different aim then what God intended for us, whether it be to please others, to be perceived a certain way, or to please ourselves.
“Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him.” (2 Corinthians 5:9)
Today’s Bible verse is telling us that if our ambition is something other than being pleasing to God, we need to reevaluate. This is something we all need to consider. How can we claim to put God first in our lives while continuing to do things we know are not pleasing to God?
Do we even attempt to put God first in our life? If we continue in sin, what message does that send to unbelievers with whom we are trying to share the Gospel?
The Bible is our complete manual to following God and living for Him. We can find in God’s Word everything we need to grow in our faith and knowledge of God.
“Finally then, brethren, we urge and exhort in the Lord Jesus that you should abound more and more, just as you eceived from us how you ought to walk and to please God;” (1 Thessalonians 4:1)
We can not live to please God unless we know who God is and what He commands. We can not know that unless we read God’s word.
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17)
As Believers, our aim should be continually striving to know God better, follow Him, please Him, and have a better relationship with Him.
If we do not read our Bibles every day, we need to set aside a few minutes every day and ask God to open our eyes to His directions as we read His word. We need to pray and ask that the Holy Spirit help us live a life pleasing to God.
What is your aim?
Heavenly Father, so then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of You. I will make it my aim, to be well pleasing to You, to be continually striving to know You better, follow You, please You, and have a better relationship with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
