THE GATE IS NARROW
Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able.
One of the most important questions any of us can ask is this. Will I be saved? Will I go to heaven? How can I know God will save me? Will I be saved when I die? Can you think of a more important question with such long-term implications? We are talking about eternity here.
“Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able.” (Luke 13:24)
Most people assume that they will go to heaven because all paths lead to heaven. They think they will go to heaven because they are generally a good person and that their good deeds will outweigh their bad ones, so they do not need to worry.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
Jesus calls us to strive to enter through the narrow gate because salvation is not guaranteed. It is not automatic. Now, this does not mean that we can earn our salvation either. It means that just because we have belief, or are good people, or attend church, we are not guaranteed a spot in heaven. Not everyone gets in. The gate is narrow.
Maybe some of your friends and family are not saved, but they think they will live the life they want now and say the sinner’s prayer at the very end of their lives, and God will let them into heaven. They think they will get to live the life they want and still get to go to heaven. The only problem with that thinking is we do not know when the gate is closing. Jesus may return at any moment, and the gate will be closed. Or we may die at any moment, and the gate will be closed. It is only in this life that we have the opportunity to be saved, and the opportunity is limited to right now while we have the opportunity.
“For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”” (1 Corinthians 11:23-24)
Open your heart to God, pray, talk to Him, confess your sins, receive God’s grace and love, as you receive God’s love ask Jesus into your heart to be your Lord and Savior. Jesus is still living and breathing, and we can be in a relationship with Him today. All you have to do is take the time to show your love for Him.
“In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.” (1 Corinthians 11:25-26)
It is, Who you know that matters. If you do not know Jesus, then you need to take this opportunity to build a relationship with Him and for those of you who do know Jesus, maybe even just recently or not really well, come and take this opportunity as a way to get to know Jesus in a real life-changing way. It is Who you know that matters.
Will you take your opportunity right now and commit or recommit your life to Jesus.
Repeat this prayer.
"Jesus, I want You to be Lord of my life. Please forgive me for all my sins and help me start new today in You, Amen.”
Praise God! We want to hear from you if you have just committed or recommitted your life to Jesus. We want to hear from you.
If you have a friend or family member that needs God in their life, invite them to receive this devotion. This little seed you plant right now is their opportunity to spend eternity in heaven.
Heavenly Father, I will Strive to enter through the narrow gate as I commit my life to You. Your Word is the life I need to Read, Meditate, Believe and Say to myself often each day. You said I am forgiven. I believe Your Word. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
