PASS THE SALT
Salt is good, but if the salt loses its flavor, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace with one another.
We use a mineral every day, and we cannot live without it. It gives us life, and we use it to flavor our food, preserve meat, clean wounds, heal our bodies, and a lot more. By now, you know we are talking about salt.
"Salt is good, but if the salt loses its flavor, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace with one another." (Mark 9:50)
We see in today's Bible verse that salt is defined as Believers' characteristics and then compared to the value of salt. Just like salt is essential to the physical body, spiritual salt is vital to life, and we must always be ready to respond when we hear, "Pass the salt!"
The characteristics of God's Spirit brings life! If we have made Jesus the Lord of our life, then we have the Holy Spirit inside us, we then act and react in the same manner that He does according to the lesson He is teaching.
The Holy Spirit tells us that we need to be humble, meek, merciful, pure in heart, peacemakers, faithful, and hungry for God's Word. Jesus said that we would be filled with joy and peace if we have these virtues in our hearts. Why? Because they will start to flow through us naturally, and others will see them and see Jesus through them.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:3-10)
The only way the world will see Jesus is through the people who believe in Him and who let the Holy Spirit live in and through them. The world will not find salvation in Hollywood or on social media. It will not find Jesus in drugs or alcohol. It will not even see Jesus in those "nice" people in our neighborhood. The only way the world will see Jesus is when He reveals Himself to them through us.
““You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:13-16)
We are the salt of the earth. We are the essence that gives savor to anyone that comes across our path. We need to give Spiritual life to those who are Spiritually dying. If we do not show them how good life is with Jesus, the world will never know. We are God's people, and we need to let our light shine so bright that they can see us and know Jesus.

Even Believers can lose their passion, drive, and value when Jesus is not alive inside of them. The only way we can keep our salt filled with savor is to study the Bible every day, have a relationship with God, and let Jesus live through us in everything we do. Then our salt will remain perfect, useful, and valuable.
“if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)
Right now, the world needs a revival, look around us. The world is crying out for a change like never before because Jesus is getting ready to return, and our time to win people for Him is running out. Every one of us must do our part. We need to pray, study the Bible, praise, and worship God.
Do not focus on the chaos so we can get to work! We can not all be on the front lines, but we can all be part of God's work in a vital way. We can pray for others, help ministries with financial and prayer support, help people in need, share with the poor, take a stand for God, promote God's name on social media, and be a friend to those who need one.
We need to be ready to do whatever God has planned for us each day, and even though the challenges in life will still come to try and stop us, we must always be ready to go; always be ready to answer when we see a need that says, "Pass the salt."

Heavenly Father, Your Word says I am the salt of the earth. I want my relationship with You to be what others see, and know that You shine through me. I do not want the salt to lose its flavor in my life. Holy Spirit, I need You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
