AUDIO VERSION

In today’s Bible verses, Isaiah told us of a message of restoration and hope that Jesus would bring to us when He was born, lived and died on the cross, and rose from the dead.

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound” (Isaiah 61:1)

Isaiah prophesies that there was hope for God’s people, and it was not over, that God had a plan to save the world and draw His people back to Him. God’s message of hope.

“The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.” (Luke 4:18-19)

Jesus read this part of Isaiah’s prophecy in the synagogue and declared that it had been fulfilled through Him. The Spirit of God was upon Jesus because Jesus was anointed to bring the Good News of the Gospel to the poor, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, to open prisons to those who were imprisoned.

Now our job is to take Jesus’ message (Gospel) and restore God’s kingdom in the world. Jesus has given us a new status and a new name so that we can enter into a new purpose for our lives.

Our job is to restore the broken, just think about how this idea changes our world and how we view ourselves in the world. Jesus has saved us. Jesus has transformed us. Jesus has given us a purpose. We are the workers that build the Kingdom of God.

Our mission is to take the gospel to the people of the world to restore their broken lives through the message of the Gospel. We do not come here just to look at the spiritual condition of the people around us and shrug our shoulders. Our job is to restore their broken lives through the message of the Gospel.

“Strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, And the sons of the foreigner Shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers. But you shall be named the priests of the LORD, They shall call you the servants of our God. You shall eat the riches of the Gentiles, And in their glory you shall boast.” (Isaiah 61:5–6)

We go into this world, bringing the world the knowledge of God. Then our job is to help people come near to God. Our job is to serve God and serve the world in this very important spiritual capacity.

Our purpose as a Believer is not to sit there and do nothing. We are called to take God to the people and bring the people to God. Look around and think about what you are doing and what will you do to build the Kingdom of God.

What will you contribute to the work of bringing people to God and bringing God to the people?

Heavenly Father, You have transformed me, and Jesus has given me a purpose. I am a worker that builds the Kingdom of God. I ask You to show me who needs to hear the Good News today, and then I ask You for the words that You would have me speak to the person. My job is to take Jesus’ message (Gospel) and restore Your Kingdom in the world. I will focus my life on You and learn what You are saying as my mind is renewed with Your Word and Your will. Thank You for using me to further Your Kingdom and help others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
