AUDIO VERSION

Is it possible in this day and age to live a pure life? To refrain from the ways of the world and stay faithful to God? Yes, it is, but it has to start with a commitment.

“To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled.” (Titus 1:15)

To live a pure life to God, we will need a standard to live our lives by. We can either build our standard by ourselves or choose God’s standard. We must decide whether God knows more about our lives than we do.

“How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word.” (Psalm 119:9)

God says several things in the Bible that are not popular, particularly when it comes to how the world operates. Why does God say those things? God knows more about life than we do. God also understands the implications far better than we do.

We have to decide: Do we want to make a commitment that when we do not understand, when we do not like it, and when it is not popular, we are going to do what God’s Word says, regardless of what we think or what our friends or family think.

Until we are willing to make that kind of commitment, we will not be living the life God intended us to live. Without that commitment, we are not ready to be pure in an impure world. We can only be pure by following God’s standard.

“Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” (1 Timothy 4:12)

God’s standard has never changed. It is very clear regardless of opinion polls or anything else.

Life is far more than just physical. It is spiritual with physical, social, legal, and emotional consequences. If life were just physical, we would live our lives, and then it would be over. It would not matter what we did with our lives. But our lives are much more than physical. Our commitments today decide our future and where we will spend eternity.

“Do not lay hands on anyone hastily, nor share in other people’s sins; keep yourself pure.” (1 Timothy 5:22)

God's Word makes it really clear that we are supposed to live our lives to God’s standards outlined in the Word of God. Anything outside of that will have profound consequences on our spiritual lives, and it may even physically harm us.

God’s standards are in your best interest. If you want to live by them and avoid all the negative consequences that come from living outside of them, then it starts with a commitment.

Will you make a commitment to live your life to God’s standards?

Heavenly Father, what a blessed life to know I have a higher standard of living in You. Your standards are in my best interest, and I choose to live by them. What a blessing to know I can avoid the negative results of my choices. The consequences that can come with them can be avoided as I follow Your Words and Your Holy Spirit’s leading. This starts with my commitment to follow You and listen to the still small voice. I recommit my all to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
