GLORY IN THE LORD
But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God and righteousness and sanctification and redemption that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.”
The glory of the Lord is often compared with the brilliantly shining sun, just too bright, too awesome, too much for us to absorb, which forces us to quickly turn away. But when Jesus was born, for an instant, the radiance of God was blocked just enough for you to see what the Almighty is really like, to stand in His presence, the King of kings.
“But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God and righteousness and sanctification and redemption that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1:30-31)
Jesus is no longer the baby in the manger, the gentle teacher on a hillside, or the Savior on the cross. Jesus now holds the exalted position of King of kings!
While Jesus’ offer still stands for all who are weary to come to Him, one day it will end, and those who rejected it will hear Him say “I never knew you; depart from Me.”
“And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’” (Matthew. 7:23)
While the offer still stands, come to Jesus for salvation, knowing He will take away sin and hopelessness, just as the sun takes away darkness. Jesus illumines your heart so that you can, in turn, glorify God in Heaven.
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)
What exactly is the “glory in the Lord”? It is something that is so deep and so profound, that it is supernatural.
“that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:10-11)
This glory is distinctive and powerful, something that transforms anyone who encounters His glory. It is the very essence of God Himself. It is a moment when we touch the supernatural and get a glimpse of what God is like.
“Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31)
Many people never get to experience this glory. Some are spiritually blind. Sometimes we block out the glory of God because our eyes are focused on the things of the world or we are consumed with our own things going on in our lives. Also, it is hard to experience God’s glory if we do not spend time with Him and have a relationship with God.
“that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man,” (Ephesians 3:16)
We must humble ourselves before God. We must open our hearts to God and spend time in His presence. We must fill our minds and hearts with God’s Word and we must be filled with His Spirit and surrender our lives to God.
We need to seek a deeper relationship with God. Seek to know God more intimately. Cry out for more of His presence and His glory. Serve Him. Worship Him.
How do you position yourself to see God’s glory?
Heavenly Father, I humble myself before You. I open my heart to You and I will spend time in Your presence. I must fill my mind and heart with Your Word and I must be filled with Your Spirit. I surrender my life to You and I want a deeper relationship with You and to know You more intimately. Then I will let my light so shine before men, that they may see my good works and glorify You. I long to see the brightness of Your glory and let You shine through me, showing others the greatness of Your grace and mercy. I ask You to strengthen me with might through Your Spirit in my inner man. I praise You as all Glory belongs to You. In Jesus name, Amen.
