LIVING PAST THE HURT
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.
We do not have to forget the wrong thing someone did to us. We could not do it even if we tried. We have to forgive and then see how God will bring good out of the hurt.
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.” (Romans 8:28-29)
The truth is God wants us to trust Him and see how He can bring good out of the hurt. That is more important than forgetting. When we see God bring good out of a bad situation, we can thank Him for the good work. We can not thank God for things we forget.
It does not say that all things are good because all things are not good. Diseases are not good. Broken relationships are not good. War is not good. Abuse is not good. There are a lot of things in life that are not good.
God says He will work good out of the bad things in life if we trust Him. We can go to Him and say, “God, I give you all the pieces of my life.”
God will take our pieces and instead give us peace in our hearts. This peace will come when we realize we can forgive, even if we do not understand the hurt in our lives, because we know God will use that pain for good.
Who have you not forgiven because you have not wanted to forget or let go of what they did to you?
Heavenly Father, I am so thankful I can come to You with each hurt that I may have, and I know You can turn it around for good. You see things I can not see, so I must follow Your leading if I want that peace that only You can give. You are my strength, and I know You will lead me to what is good for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
