THIRSTY AND HUNGRY FOR GOD
Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness.
Psalm 107:8-9
People have a natural desire for spiritual things. Even those who claim they do not believe in anything try to fill that desire with other things that never satisfy them.
Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness. Psalm 107:8-9
When the body is hungry, it needs something to fill that void. A body that does not have proper nourishment will get sick and even die.
We can go without food for weeks or even a month, but without water for a few days, our bodies will have dire consequences.
Water helps clean out the kidneys, flush impurities from the blood, and make our digestive systems run much more efficiently. While most things need to be taken in moderation, water is one thing that is difficult to drink too much.
We can not deny the fact that most of the time, we are thirsty. Nothing satisfies as much as an ice cold glass of water; other beverages can stimulate hunger, and water quenches thirst.
Nothing can satisfy the thirst and hunger for God. We thirst and hunger for Him because that is the only thing this world cannot give. We thirst for the Word of God and can not live by bread alone but on every word that comes from God.
God puts the hunger and thirst inside us so that we can understand that we need Him, and God does not stop reminding us that we need Him and that He is grace and love alone.
God will not change without us being willing, but because He is love and loves us so much, He will keep reminding us that our salvation comes from Him.
As we seek God, we will not just find Him, but He will also satisfy and fill us with good things. God chose to love and save us through Jesus on the cross. As Believers, we must understand that we are under grace, not by works.
Everything we have right now is from the grace of God, not from our reward or merit but only from God alone.
Heavenly Father, I recognize that I have everything only because of Your grace. I know nothing can satisfy the thirst and hunger for You. I hunger and thirst for You and I know that is the only thing this world cannot give. I thirst for the Word of You, and I can not live by bread alone but on every word that comes from You. That is why I want to be an obedient child of You, God, doing what brings Honor and Praise to You. Thank You, my Father God. In Jesus name, Amen.
