THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD
Jesus spoke these words to His followers, reminding them of their role in a dark world. Light is not meant to be hidden but to stand out and shine.
You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Matthew 5:14
Think about a city on a hill at night. You can see its lights glowing no matter how far away you are. That is exactly how Jesus wants us to be.
If you belong to Jesus, your life reflects His love, grace, and truth. The world can be a dark place, full of confusion, fear, and pain, but God has placed His light in you so that others can see Him through your actions, words, and love. When you live with kindness, integrity, and faith, you are not just going through the motions but shining.
Sometimes, you might feel tempted to hide your faith or blend in. It may be fear of rejection or worrying about what others might think, but Jesus did not call us to blend in; He called on us to stand out for His glory.
Being an example for others does not mean you have to be perfect or have everything figured out. It simply means being available for God to use you. It could be a simple act of kindness, an encouraging word, or standing firm in your faith when compromising would be easier.
The truth is, the world needs your light. Someone around you may be struggling in darkness, searching for hope, and your faithfulness could be what helps lead them to Jesus.
Do not hide, and do not be afraid to stand out. Let your light shine boldly and consistently. Be the city on the hill, radiating the goodness of God in a way that draws others closer to Him.
Take time today to ask God to help you shine. He has placed His light in you for a reason to let it shine brightly for everyone to see.
Heavenly Father, I thank You for being the light of this world and the Father God that I can come to for any situation. I bring You honor and praise. I ask for Your Word to live in me boldly that others may see You in me. This world is in need of You and Your ways to be lived out on this earth and to be the light to shine. Thank You, Father God. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
