PEACE THAT STAYS
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Jesus spoke these words to His disciples before He went to the cross. He knew they would face uncertainty, fear, and trials. Yet, He promised them something the world could never offer, His peace.
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27
This was not a temporary feeling of calm but a deep, unshakable peace that remained no matter what was happening around them.
The world offers peace in temporary ways. It says: you will have peace when your bank account is full, your health is perfect, or when people treat you right. That kind of peace is unreliable. An unexpected phone call, one bad day, or one wrong decision from someone else can instantly make it disappear.
Jesus offers something entirely different. His peace is steady, anchored in who He is, not in the circumstances. The peace allowed Him to sleep in the middle of a storm while His disciples panicked. The same peace that sustained Him as He faced the cross is the same peace He gives us today.
Life will have its storms, and there will be moments when fear tries to creep in when anxiety whispers that things are out of control, but Jesus says, Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. That means we have a choice. We can hold on to fear or take hold of the peace Jesus freely gives.
How do we receive this peace? By trusting Jesus. By bringing our worries to Him in prayer. By knowing that He is in control, no matter what. This peace is always available, always enough.
No matter what is on your mind, take a deep breath and receive the peace Jesus gives. It is yours to keep.
Heavenly Father, I thank You and I praise You for the peace only You can give. When I face any fears or concerns, I must go to Your Word and there You will provide the Word of peace. You are my peace and a shelter in the time of storm. Like Peter in the boat, I must keep my eyes on You and listen to what Your Word is saying. Your Words are peace and I receive them now. I thank You and praise You. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
