GOD’S CHOSEN GENERATION
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
God wants a people who will walk with Him in prayer, give God praise, thanks, and worship Him every day. In Peter’s description, notice how the people of the New Covenant are to progress.
“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;” (1 Peter 2:9)
We are called a chosen generation; we are a part of this continually expanding generation, “chosen” when we receive Jesus. Then we are a royal priesthood. Under the Old Covenant, the priesthood and royalty were separated.
In Jesus, we are now “kings and priests” prepared to walk with Him in the light or walk beside Him against the enemy. We are made a holy nation, born of Jesus’ blood, from every nation under heaven.
God calls us His special people. God’s intention has always been to call forth a people who will proclaim His praise and spread His blessing throughout the earth.
Will you do that today?
Heavenly Father, I will proclaim the praises of You who called me out of darkness into Your marvelous light. I will walk with You in prayer, give You praise, thanks, and worship You every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
