AUDIO VERSION

Sometimes life can feel overwhelming, full of unfinished projects, delayed dreams, and good intentions that never seem to cross the finish line. The people in Haggai’s day understood that feeling too. They returned from exile excited and full of purpose, ready to rebuild the temple of the Lord. But as time went on, everyday life took over.

Then Haggai, the Lord's messenger, spoke the Lord's message to the people, saying, I am with you, says the Lord. Haggai 1:13

Their priorities shifted, and they found themselves focusing on their homes, careers, farms, and families, everything except finishing what God had asked them to do. Their hearts drifted away from what mattered most.

God sent Haggai with a reminder. The Lord was not upset because He needed a building; He was inviting them to put Him first, knowing that when He is at the center, everything else falls into place.

After the people responded with obedience and fresh determination, God sent this message through Haggai: I am with you.

What an incredibly comforting promise. God did not say, Work harder. He did not say, Figure it out on your own. He simply said, I am with you.

Those four words changed everything for them, and they change everything for us.

When God calls you to something, He does not leave you to carry it alone. When He gives you assignments, whether rebuilding your marriage, pursuing a ministry, healing from a painful past, or stepping into a new chapter, His presence is the source of strength and courage that enables you to move forward.

God’s presence means you will have all you need. His presence brings clarity and gives you peace, even when things feel uncertain.

The people’s obedience did not earn God’s presence; it positioned them to recognize it. When we put Him first, when we trust Him with the work, the timing, and the outcome, we become more aware that He has been there all along.

If you are stepping into something God has placed on your heart, take courage, you are not doing it alone. If you are returning to something you walked away from, remember, it is never too late to start again with God by your side.

God’s message to us remains as comforting today as it was then: I am right here with you. No matter how big the work ahead may seem, remember that God is always bigger, and He will be with you every step of the way.

Heavenly Father, thank You for being with me. Help me put You first in every decision and trust Your timing. Give me the courage to finish the work You have called me to. Strengthen my heart, guide my steps, and let Your presence lead me forward. In the name of Jesus. Amen.
