There was a time in our lives when we walked in darkness. We lived without direction, truth, and the light of Jesus, but something changed when Jesus stepped in.
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light. Ephesians 5:8
The moment we believed in Jesus, we were transformed. Not just improved or cleaned up, we became something entirely new. We became light in the Lord.
That is a massive shift because darkness hides things, confuses, and covers everything it comes into contact with. But light reveals, guides, and brings clarity. When Paul says, Walk as children of light, he is not telling us to fake it or to try to be good. He reminds us to live in a way that reflects who we already are in Jesus.
Being light in the Lord means living differently, not out of duty but out of identity. You do not belong to the darkness anymore. Now, your choices, words, and habits reflect the light of Jesus that lives inside you. That does not mean perfection, but it does mean being intentional and letting honesty, love, kindness, and truth be part of how you walk through the world.
Sometimes, it is tempting to go back to old ways. Darkness can feel familiar, but it never brings freedom, only more confusion. Light, on the other hand, may expose things initially, but always leads to healing and growth. As a Believer, you can bring that light wherever you go: into your home, workplace, conversations, and struggles.
Today, take a moment to remember who you are in Jesus. You are not the same person you used to be. The past does not define you. Jesus does, and in Him, you are light, so walk confidently in that truth. Let your life shine so others can see the way to hope.
Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me out of darkness and making me light in You. Help me to walk today as a child of light, reflecting Your love and truth in all I do. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
