STEADFAST IN THE FAITH
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.
Peter encourages us to pray diligently and with a grateful heart. Continually re-aligning ourselves with Jesus is what it takes to be steadfast and faithful.
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.” (1 Peter 5:8-9)
We can not do better by trying harder, and we need a constant connection with Jesus to live out the Gospel.
We need to ask God for opportunities to share the Gospel and know what to say when we share the Gospel with others. We need to think about how they are living and what they are saying.
Words can be misunderstood, especially in the supercharged emotional environment we live in today. We need the Holy Spirit to help guide us on speaking, when to remain silent, and when to speak up.
There is no formula for sharing the Gospel. Instead, If we have a heart connected to God and are willing to be led by the Holy Spirit, we will always know what to say at the right time.
When was the last time you prayed for your words to make a difference in a person’s life?
Heavenly Father, as Jesus lives in me and I seek Your will and purpose for my life each and every day, I will listen so I will say the right things at the right time. I want my words to be from You, and I want to be led by Your Holy Spirit. I will not offend or walk in a manner not worthy of Your life within me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
