EMPOWERED BY GOD
But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
Christ, Messiah, Anointed One, three titles with the same meaning, someone set apart, sent, and empowered by God to fulfill a specific purpose.
“But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and that no lie is of the truth.” (1 John 2:20-21)
Christ is not Jesus’ last name; it is Jesus' empowered purpose. The Son of God is His identity. Jesus, is the Anointed One, who was sent by God to announce Good News to the helpless, destitute, and poor.
“how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.” (Acts 10:38)
The Holy Spirit empowered Jesus to demonstrate the Kingdom of God to the hopeless and destitute. God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and His power. Jesus went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the enemy.
Maybe you need to hear this Good News today.
There are times when things are not going your way; money is tight, business is down, the medical report is not good. The world is in crisis. The Good News is that God specializes in doing things, not going our way.
God does not wait for the perfect circumstances to line up to have the training for the right people to believe in us. God does things unexpectedly. God makes water pour out in our dry places and cause us to blossom out of season.
Do you feel as though you are stuck in some areas? Stay encouraged. God has you in the palms of His hands. Get ready for God’s anointing to pour out in your life, for an “it is beyond my imagination” healing, for an “it does not make sense” change in your life. God is about to do something unusual, something that is bigger than you have dreamed, where you are going to say, “Wow, God! I did not see that coming!”
God wants to set you free today. He wants to forgive, cleanse, and heal you. Give Him your life, your sin, and your hurts. Receive God’s life, love, and acceptance. Go ahead. Take your new identity, being a child of God. Be free. Be made whole. Then allow the Holy Spirit to anoint and empower you to preach the same Good News to those around you, demonstrating God’s Kingdom, bringing freedom to those in need.
Will you let the Holy Spirit empower you today?
Heavenly Father, today, I take my new identity in Jesus. I am set free and made whole. Please anoint and empower me with the Holy Spirit so that I can bring the Good News of the Gospel to the people that You place in my path. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
