HEAVEN IS OUR INHERITANCE
In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.
What if our redemption was only meant for this world? Would we have a narrow view of what was accomplished on the cross? We get so wrapped up in day-to-day living that we lose track of the bigger picture.
“In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.” (Ephesians 1:11-12)
We have been redeemed and forgiven by God’s grace.
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7)
Then Paul mentions that this has been given us with all wisdom and understanding.
“which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence,” (Ephesians 1:8)
Paul says this to understand the next statement; Paul made known to us God’s will.
“having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself,” (Ephesians 1:9)
God is bringing everything together under Jesus, and He is setting apart for Himself the Church as a redeemed bride. This has been the plan from beginning to end.
This is an amazing revelation. God, in Jesus, has given us a huge role to play both today and the years to come. This is why God chose us, blessed us with every spiritual blessing, and gave us all His wisdom and understanding. This is so we could understand His will and get on board with all that He has been doing since the beginning of time.
This starts with making Jesus the Lord of your life. This aligns us with God’s eternal purpose. Start by asking God to reveal this to you and let understanding of that be the catalyst of change.
Here is God’s promise,
“And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive.” (Jeremiah 29:13-14)
Today, will you take a moment to quiet yourself and adjust your heart to God’s will?
Heavenly Father, I have been redeemed so You could reveal Your plan for my life, to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ. Jesus is my Lord. I surrender myself to Your will. I live for You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
