GOD IS OUR LIFELINE
Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer; And attend to the voice of my supplications. In the day of my trouble I will call upon You, For You will answer me.
When we need help, we call on the people we know and people that we trust. This is how David was with God. His closeness with the Lord gave David confidence that God not only had the capability but the heart to help him when David called on Him. God wants us to know Him with that level of confidence. Not just as a name we call on when things get tough, but as a child knows their Father.
"Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer; And attend to the voice of my supplications. In the day of my trouble I will call upon You, For You will answer me." (Psalm 86:6-7)
Today's Bible verses are part of David's prayer to the Lord. David communicates with God with such conviction in his prayers that when he is in trouble, he calls upon the Lord his God, and He answers him.
“Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”” (Nehemiah 8:10)
Right now, we need to call upon the Lord with the same conviction as David had when we face issues in our lives that are contrary to the Word of God and what it says concerning us. God has called us to be blessed and live life abundantly. Not in fear, not in sickness.
“The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.” (Proverbs 18:10)
In these troubled times in which we live, our great need for God and His direction in our life should drive us to pray to God, who is Mighty in power, love, grace, and mercy. Yes, He alone can deliver us from any situation that we may find ourselves in today if we call on Him.
“Bow down Your ear, O LORD, hear me; For I am poor and needy.” (Psalm 86:1)
David's continual prayer to God is driven not only by his awareness of who God is and His ability to deliver him but also of his great need for God. The truth about life is the fact that life is full of trouble, pain, suffering, sickness, diseases, struggles, good days, bad days, happy days, and sad days.
“God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1)
God is our refuge and strength, a well-proven help in trouble. We know this is true because if we could look back over our lives and see all the things that God has brought us through that we thought we would have never made it through. We stand here, after all, we have been through to testify that our God is trustworthy, faithful, and true to His Word. GOD WILL DELIVER US!
Will you pray with faith or fear today?
Heavenly Father, I give You praise! You are my refuge and strength, a well-proven help in trouble. I know this is true because if I could look back over my life and see all the things that You have brought me through that I thought I would have never made it through. In these troubled times, my answer is in You, and I thank You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
