HAVE RESPECT FOR AUTHORITY
All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.
Jesus was under the authority of His Father in heaven, and Jesus lived for one thing; to fulfill the will of the Father (God). Everyone is subject to authority. There is one ultimate authority that every person will have to answer to, and that is God.
“All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.” (Matthew 11:27)
What is the authority in your life? Is it fear? Is it selfishness? Is it lust? Is it greed? Have you turned it all to God and prayed, “Heavenly Father, You are going to be my authority?” When you are under authority, you are then able to assume authority.
Jesus demonstrated that He had complete authority over the enemy and every demonic force. He demonstrated this after being tempted by the enemy in the wilderness.
“saying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”” (Mark 1:24)
After these temptations, Jesus was confronted by a man with an unclean spirit, who cried out, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!” Demonstrating His complete authority, Jesus rebuked the demon, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!”
“But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!”” (Mark 1:25)
Hearing about the miracles from Jesus’ ministry, people from all around began bringing to Jesus all who were sick and those who were demon-possessed. Jesus healed the sick and cast out demons. He did not let the demons speak. They wanted to disrupt His ministry, but He controlled them, placing strict limits on their activities.
“And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.” (Matthew 10:1)
It is exciting to realize that we, as His followers, have the same power and authority as Jesus displayed in His own life. Jesus gave His disciples the authority.
“And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:19)
Whether we realize it or not, as Jesus’ disciples, we have the same power and authority as He had. We do not need to fear the enemy or his demons. Instead, we can be confident and bold: stating God’s promises, binding the enemy’s power, freeing the captives, and healing the sick.
This is Jesus’ offer to us as Believers. We are not victims, but victors given the very power of God.
“You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4)
Imagine Jesus speaking those exact words to you today. How will you respond to Jesus? Are you ready to drop everything and spend time with Him today? Why not spend some time alone with Jesus right now? You can enjoy a renewed heart and a refreshed spirit and see what a difference when you take authority in the name of Jesus over your circumstances.
What is the authority in your life?
Heavenly Father, this is what You have offered to me as a Believer. I am not a victim, but I am a victor, given the very power of You and the name of Jesus. I submit to Your authority in my life, and as I study Your instructions in Your Word, I know what belongs to me. I am confident and bold: stating Your promises, binding the enemy’s power, freeing the captives, and healing the sick. I must renew my mind as Your Word says, being transformed and not conformed to this world. You have given a far greater power that is in You than anything this world or the enemy can do. My victorious life is in You. I take my place of authority in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
